Public Process

Public input has been at the core of La Puerta from the very beginning. First as a school and now as we look toward the next chapter. Trumark Homes has worked with neighbors and the local community for the past four years to develop a vision for the future of La Puerta, and through dozens of meetings, workshops and conversations, this valuable input has shaped a plan that balances our housing needs, protects neighborhood priorities and benefits classrooms and the community.

Clarifying the La Puerta Property Sale

Trumark Homes closed escrow on the former La Puerta School site (Parcel 2) in February 2025. To clarify, Trumark only purchased Parcel 2—the 9.77-acre site east of La Puerta Sports Park. Parcel 1 (the park) remains owned by Claremont Unified School District and is leased to the City, ensuring it remains a public park.

Both legal parcels currently share a single Assessor’s Parcel Number (APN 8670-003-900), a common practice for publicly owned properties. Now that Parcel 2 has been sold, the County Assessor will issue a new APN reflecting separate ownership, a routine process that typically takes several weeks to months to complete.

We appreciate the community’s interest and are committed to transparency.
